What a Harvest!!!

Between the grapes and the good weather it has been a very special harvest! For the Traminer gathered yesterday, and the Sauvignon gathered today, in the Cantina there is much work to do because the grapes gathered in the morning have been kept in the open all day to then be crushed at sunset. This is because the temperature of the grapes, when gathered early in the morning, is about 12° C; keeping them out during the warmer hours and crushing them only at the end of the day guarantees a stable temperature, thus we work with a fresh product avoiding unwanted fermentation.

With Sauvignon we close, toasting this 2009 harvest, that for the moment appears to be an excellent year.

And so we think we are very lucky, because every year we can experience the grape harvest as we did once, with the people of our family, with the children, with some friends, with the people that are fond of the farm, of the scent of this land, of the incredible light of this place. We think that is owing to these feelings that we breathe a friendly atmosphere, that we appreciate to live a simple time, doing simple things...

All this stirs up in Giuseppe the memory of past experiences, when he was put together with his cousins on the tractor of the grandfather to harvest a piece of land... and he remembers the fun and the laughs and how everything was amusing and simple! Each of us, thinking of his life, will have a particular feeling, and for us, that we live in a small village among the mountains, the scent of the land and the simplicity of the rural life, are the most common.

Apart from the memories, we’d like to thank heartily all the people who work all year long among the row of vines, the ones that arrive for the grape harvest, the gem of a mum fond of cookery that always prepares special plates and chocolate cakes, Giulio, Giuseppe’s father, that tends his garden and assures delicacy till the grape harvest and then Graziano, Paolo and Giovanni.

All these people take part every year, maybe unwittingly, to the realization of an extraordinary project!
